Volunteer Program

Pine Meadow offers a remarkable volunteer program geared towards meeting the needs of the resident’s as well as finding the best fit for the volunteer.
Interested applicants would contact the Program Manager. Together they would design a program best suited for that applicant based on skill, strengths, interest, experience and of course comfort. From there, under the supervision of the activity department, your volunteer journey would begin.
As a volunteer, there are a number of things you could do. Some range from friendly visits with lonely residents to assisting on outings, playing cards, all the way to teaching woodworking or painting classes and entertaining the folks with your musical talents. The list goes on and the possibilities are endless.
There are a few requirements before one can begin and the Program Manager would be happy to assist you through this process. First and foremost, a Vulnerable Sector Check is required before anything else. This is at no cost, simply take the form to the police station and they will have it ready for you usually within a week or so.
Secondly, you will need to meet with your physician to have a 2-step Mantoux TB test complete.
Thirdly, you will be required to show Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination including a 3rd Booster.
All of the above are required before we begin the orientation process. This is simply a review of the homes policies regarding confidentiality, what to do in the case of a fire and others related to volunteering.
Now you are ready to develop your individualized program and get started!
As you become more comfortable in your new role you may wish to expand your role as most do. Volunteering, although at times challenging, can be one of the most rewarding jobs you can do. Pine Meadow is eternally grateful for all that our volunteers do, they bring so much light into our home.
